It’s OK to be lazy….. sometimes.
After the day I had yesterday I was in no rush whatsoever to leave the comfort of my nice motel room, but around 11am the road started calling my name and surely today could be no harder than yesterday.
Man was I RIGHT. It’s nice to not finish that sentence with the word “wrong”. Today was a little ripper. I was on the east coast, the sea by my side, the sun streaming down, what a great day to ride, and then there was the tailwind - Oh yes a tailwind.
There is not really much else I can say about my days ride other than it was heaven. I have never seen sky and water so blue in Korea before. I was flying along Hwy 7, also known as “Asian Highway 6″ which is supposed to eventually link the rest of Asia via North Korea with not a care in the world. I took a small detour onto highway 20 which ran through little fishing villages, but soon found time getting away from me so it was back to the 7. The traffic was fairly light at this end of the highway which was nice.
I decided that I would camp out again tonight and pick one of the many beach areas along the coast to pitch my tent closer to 6pm. Eventually I ended up on a little beach called Chilpo. (칠포) There was a decent sea breeze rolling through which made pitching a tent slightly harder and of course I opted for being right on the beach as opposed to the shelter of the trees. (my scout masters would be rolling their eyes)
During a late dinner of rice and curry I was entertained by a few groups of Koreans setting off fireworks along the beach.
Who could ask for a better day and I was becoming used to the idea of being by myself and didn’t feel nearly as lonely as the first nights camp. Spirits were definitely on a high.
