Creating A Cycle Route

Recently I wrote a 4 part series on how to find and create your own cycling route in Korea using the online resources such as Google Maps and included how to covert a Google map KML file to a GPX file in order to upload it to a Garmin GPS unit. Obviously this information can be used to create a Google Map and GPX file for any sort of sport or adventure.

Below are links to all four parts.

Part 1 – Choosing a Place to Ride
Covers the basics of picking an area/distance to ride, types of roads in Korea, and using a few of the extra Google Maps tools and features.

Part 2 – Creating a Basic Map
Covers the basics of creating a Google Map and adding lines and waypoints.

Part 3 – Adding Details
Covers “looking over the route, marking hill climbs, elevations, terrain view, using Korean websites Daum and Naver, and adding alternate routes.

Part 4 – Google Maps to GPX file
How to convert a Google Map to a GPX file.
