What is Braking Boundaries
After a days ride along the Han River in May 2007 four friends sat down in a local Korean restaurant and decided to put pen to paper and create a goal of riding from London to Beijing. The name “Braking Boundaries” (a combination of bike parts and country borders) came shortly after and would be used as our team name as we prepared for an adventure of a lifetime while raising awareness for micro-financing and KIVA.
While the names on the life changing napkin changed and the route across Eurasia reversed, the dream stayed alive and on April 11th, 2009 Tom, Katie, Dave, and myself (Jared) packed our bike and hopped a ferry to China leaving our perceived reality behind. The rest is history, most of which can be found on this site via the blog posts, photos, and videos.
While the original four intrepid adventurers have literally spread to the four corners of the Earth, the Braking Boundaries Site will go on as a source of information for cycle touring.
As for adventures in the saddle, more are in the works for, both big and small. Stay tuned.
